I was way too close to chucking my entire 1998 Makita drill, charger, and two dead batteries, even though the drill worked as good as ever.

Buying this one replacement battery, even for dollars, feels much more responsible. It appears to be equal to the original in every way, even says 'Made in Japan'. I've decided I don't really need two. Amazon's price was among the lowest, but to their advantage, they do not have to take the old batteries back for recycling.
